Pastor DeralPastor Deral I grew up in Grangeville, about 200 miles north of Boise. After graduation from high school, I enrolled at Northwest Christian College (N.C.C.) in Eugene, Oregon. I met people who have become life-long friends, such as Gary and Robbie Smith.I also met a young lady who is now my wife, Garren. Following graduation from N.C.C., Garren and I enjoyed a two-year ministry in Polson, Montana, at Polson Christian Church. Our son, Andy, was born in Polson. Sensing a need for further training, we moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, and I attended and graduated from Brite Divinity School, T.C.U. I served Anna Christian Church in Anna, Texas, as their pastor while at Brite. After graduation we were called to a ministry with South Suburban Christian Church, Littleton, Colorado. Our daughter, Mandy, was born in Littleton. I served as South Suburban’s pastor for 38 years. I retired this past September, and we moved to Boise to be closer to my dad, who still lives in Grangeville, as well as being nearer to many other family members..

Pastor GaryPastor Gary I was born in Ontario because Payette did not have a hospital but spent my adolescence in Burley where First Christian raised me in the faith. From the time I was five years old I wanted to become a minister. Because of the support and encouragement of those fine Christians in Burley I attended Northwest Christian University where I met the love of my life, Robbie (Kistler). Our journey took us to Texas Christian University Brite Divinity School where I earned the Masters of Divinity degree. Then we served First Christian Church in Jefferson City, Missouri for five years. When Red Rock Christian was searching for a minister in 1980 I applied and was fortunate enough to be called to be their minister and served them for 35 years. Robbie was Red Rock’s choir director and plays the bass violin in the Boise Philharmonic. Our only child, Shannon, was born here in Boise and delivered us a special Christmas present on December 22 a year ago with her daughter, Isabella, who we had the honor of babysitting the first year her of life. As I prepared for retirement I received training in transitional ministry and was certified to be an Interim Pastor. I was looking for an opportunity to apply what I had learned when I heard that Parkview was interested in having an Interim Minister.I look forward to sharing ministry with Deral and the fine Christians at Parkview. This congregation has been very important to me with its history and friendships. Thank you for this opportunity..

Worship Leader

shawn lopezWhat gets Shawn Lopez excited about waking up every Sunday morning and looking forward to living out the day? The opportunity to come to Parkview Christian Church and lead our congregation in a time of “authentic” worship. “Authentic” meaning having a real encounter with the Living God. Bringing our “whole” heart to the table and not holding anything back in our expression of our worship. The beauty of Sunday morning worship is that the spotlight is not on us and God is the central character in the drama of worship. Shawn’s foundational scripture is centered around Romans Chapter 12 where the Apostle Paul urges his fellow brothers in Christ to “offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God –this is your spiritual act of worship”. Shawn’s education & experience over many years as a Worship Director & Leader still brings him back to the feet of the cross. Shawn is married with one son and has traded San Diego’s ocean view for Idaho’s Mountain View and feels right at home with the pace and life Idaho has to offer. Shawn may be reached through, or by his cell, 818-917-4779.
